Constitution 101

Explore Constitution 101, the National Constitution Center’s groundbreaking core curriculum that provides educators with the tools they need to give students a basic understanding of constitutional text, history, structure and interpretation. Modeled on our unique and proven framework for rigorous, nonpartisan constitutional education, Constitution 101 offers high school learners the opportunity to think about the Constitution and the core principles of the American idea more deeply, more critically, and for themselves.

Discover the tools in Constitution 101:

• Comprehensive, 15-module curriculum: Each module includes interactive videos, classroom activities and guides, assessments, and more on a variety of constitutional topics such as the Constitutional Convention, the three branches of government, and constitutional conversations and civil dialogue. Educators can implement the semester-long curriculum, or pick and choose the resources that work best in their classrooms!
• Primary source documents: Our new, curated Founders’ Library contains over 170 historical texts and 50 landmark Supreme Court cases.

We are excited to offer this curriculum in its entirety to educators nationwide, and need engaged teachers to pilot the program in its first year. Please complete the survey below if you are interested in joining teachers nationwide who will help us launch this class in the 2022-2023 school year

Scholar Exchanges are back for the 2022-2023 school year!

Learn more about the Center's free online constitutional classes, starting in September. Learners of all ages can practice civil dialogue skills, apply critical thinking and active listening, and learn about the Constitution and how it affects their lives. Coming soon, we will also be releasing our schedule of free virtual tours, professional development opportunities, and other live classes for elementary, middle, and high school learners.

Constitution Day 2022

In September of 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the most influential document in American history, the U.S. Constitution. Every year, the National Constitution Center hosts the best Constitution Day celebration in the country. We are the place to turn to help you commemorate this historic day while meeting your federal education requirements, at the Center and online!  

This year we will be hosting a two-day celebration on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17, with FREE museum admission on both days!  

Participate in a live reading of the Preamble from the First Amendment tablet wall, hear judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit discuss cases from the appellate docket this year, and participate in a Kids Town Hall on the First Amendment. All of these programs, and more, will be hosted live at the Center and livestreamed.

The National Constitution Center’s 2022-2023 Civic Calendar is coming soon! This year’s calendar will explore the 27 Amendments in 12 Months!

Each month features beautifully designed informational graphics highlighting the freedoms protected by the Bill of Rights, the transformations of the Reconstruction era, the expansion of voting rights, the story of Prohibition (and its repeal), and other rights and freedoms, all granted by the amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
