By donating now, your gift will work twice as hard.
Dear John
Greenland's ice sheets are melting 7 times faster than in the 1990s according to a new study by polar scientists. [1]
But as Greta Thunberg pointed out at the UN climate talks last week, governments are are still dragging their heels when it comes to meaningful action.
Our Climate Action Plan sets out a better way forward. It outlines the practical steps needed to take on the climate emergency. And today you have another fantastic opportunity to power our campaign to get the plan adopted by local and national governments.
Our friends at Patagonia have offered to match any donation you make today – at no extra cost to you. That means anything you donate today will get doubled.
I'LL CHIP IN TODAY ([link removed])
The kind of bushfires that are still blazing across Australia – ravaging wildlife-filled forests and choking the streets of Sydney – are set to become more intense and more frequent if we don't deal with the climate emergency now.
Thanks to hundreds of incredible supporters like you we recently hit our £100,000 Big Give Christmas Challenge target – which will help power our campaign for a Climate Action Plan. It's an amazing start. But we're going to need to go much further to beat climate breakdown.
Today Patagonia has given you another opportunity to have your donation doubled for free.
Here's some of the info from the email I sent a couple of weeks ago explaining how your donation can help:
Our Climate Action Plan contains practical solutions to stop climate chaos. We’re calling for urgent, tangible action in six priority areas – transport, power generation, buildings and homes, trees and food, consumption, and international justice.
We’re currently supporting 137 new Climate Action Groups to persuade their local authorities to adopt the plan.
But we still need your support to help hundreds more communities secure local Climate Action Plans. If we make change happen at the local level it will put huge pressure on the UK government to adopt a national plan.
We know how to get politicians to take action. And we know what can be achieved when communities join together. Just look at how the combined strength of local groups and communities saw off the fracking industry in the UK.
DONATE £15 AND IT’LL BE DOUBLED ([link removed])
DONATE £30 AND IT’LL BE DOUBLED ([link removed])
DONATE £50 AND IT’LL BE DOUBLED ([link removed])
To avoid catastrophic climate breakdown, we only have a very small window of opportunity in which to act, so please consider chipping in. Every pound you donate today will be matched by Patagonia, so you’ll have double the impact.
Thank you for everything you do,
Aleanna,
Supporter Relations Manager
