Welcome to your Plug in Newsletter, keeping you?regularly updated on electric and sustainable transport news taking place across Nottingham.
Nottingham City Council have been given ?750,000 by the Department for Transport Future Transport Zones funding pot to create a charging network across D2N2 where public sector bodies share their charge points with each other to increase the pace of electric vehicle (EV) adoption across the region.
The aim of the project is to provide public sector organisations with EV charge point infrastructure to support the uptake of EVs as part of their fleet and enable them to fulfil their operational responsibilities; addressing logistical and technical issues associated with EV charging for fleet users, home starters and employees frequently on the move. The exciting opportunity will create a network of public sector organisations (members) who agree to share EV charge points, delivering collective efficiencies in EV operation and overcoming barriers to charge point deployment.
We would like public sector organisations to be part of this exciting project so please respond if you are interested in being involved and then we will organise a meeting with all prospective partners to understand:
- Current number of chargers your organisation owns
- How many electric vehicles you operate
- How your fleet operates
- How many chargers you would be willing to open up to the project
- Any site and/or operational restrictions
- Willingness and capacity to have new chargers installed on your site
- How many EVs you are buying or may buy if this project progresses
The project is expected to be complete by June 2024 with the implementation of the charge points across the D2N2 region beginning as early as October 2022.
Involvement in the project does not guarantee members with charge points.

The first D2N2 150 kW ultra-rapid charge point has been installed on Willoughby Street just off Castle Boulevard in Nottingham. 150 kW charge points can add substantial range to an electric vehicle in up to 20 minutes and are perfect for short, top-up charges.
This charge point is part of the D2N2 charge point network and can be accessed either through contactless card payments or a BP pulse membership RFID card.
Across the D2N2 network there are now almost 400 charge points. These are made up of a mixture of different types. The most common type is 7kW fast chargers which are ideal for locations you may park at for long periods. Numbers of rapid 50 kW chargers are increasing with 35 in Nottingham alone and 80 now across the whole D2N2 network, these chargers can deliver a significant range increase in an hour. Now with the first 150 kW charger installed local residents will be able to benefit from a full range of charging options on the D2N2 network.?

The Electric Van Experience (EVE) offers business and organisations within the Nottingham City Council boundary the chance to loan an electric van at zero cost for 30 days.
The scheme started early 2021 and has seen over 200 businesses register their interest in the scheme. So far, our EVE vehicles have travelled over 150,000 kilometres with an estimated CO2 saving of 22 tonnes.
96% of participants have rated EVE as good or excellent and found that the driving performance of the vehicles was the most positive aspect of EVE followed closely by the choice of vehicles and the environmental impacts.
Throughout the scheme, the two most preferred vehicles have been the Maxus eDeliver 3 52kw and the Toyota Proace. They are both medium sized vans and are the cheaper option compared to their competitors which is perhaps the reason for their popularity.
