It’s simple: No one should be discriminated against because of who they love.

But right now – even in 2022 – that’s still happening: A private Colorado-based company offering wedding website services is attempting to discriminate against LGBTQ+ couples by refusing them service, and violating the law in the process.

In California, we’re fighting back. No matter who you are or who you love, we’re going to continue to stand up for the fundamental rights of all of our residents.

That’s why this week, along with other attorneys general from across the country, I urged the Supreme Court to reject this challenge to Colorado’s anti-discrimination laws.

For more than a century, laws in many states – from California to Colorado – have required businesses that offer goods and services to the public not to discriminate, and to serve all people equally regardless of who they are or who they love.

But discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community is still all too common across our country. We’ve made progress, but we still have further to go to ensure equality and put an end to practices that exclude and harm members of our communities.
