There's only two weeks left! Give to our Happy Mums, Happy Tums appeal before the 31st of December and the UK government will double your donation! You can still help over 6,000 women and children in rural Sierra Leone to improve their health and nutrition. Health Poverty Action has been working with communities in northern Sierra Leone for over fourteen years to address healthcare issues and we've seen a 41% reduction in maternal mortality in those communities in the last three years alone. Your contributions will help to establish a new project, to help mothers take charge of their families' health through good nutrition. We will train and support community health workers so they can help mothers make informed decisions about nutrition, raise livestock and set up community gardens to grow their own food. Community health workers will also identify and refer malnourished children and pregnant women to health clinics. Asha has been a nurse at Kagbere health centre in northern Sierra Leone for five years. Health Poverty Action works closely with health centres and health workers in this community. Asha says, “The biggest problem we face is nutrition. Most children who come here are here with a feeding problem. Most times they have been given water and rice too young, or without a varied nutritional balance. Most of the parents who come here haven’t been taught what food to give their children.” Donations made before the 31st of December 2019 that support Health Poverty Action’s ‘Happy Mums, Happy Tums’ U.K. Aid Match campaign will be doubled by the UK government up to £2 million!
