Dear John,

I would like to thank all of you who contributed to my campaign, volunteered your time, and voted for me. I very much appreciate your belief in me as a candidate and your confidence in me as a leader. We ran a good, honest, and honorable race focused on substance and experience. Unfortunately, we came up short behind the winner of the Democratic Party primary, Robert Zimmerman.

Robert is a longtime friend and I wish him success in the November election.

While I believed that my experience and perspective made me the best candidate to meet the challenges that we are facing as a nation, and is the very reason I put myself forward as a candidate, I do believe Robert Zimmerman will serve us well. I now ask that we all rally around him as our nominee for US Congress in the 3rd Congressional District.

Thank you to all who engaged with me and my campaign; at your door, on the phone and at events. Thank you for allowing me to present my candidacy to you. I am delighted to have met you directly or through my campaign. It was a privilege to serve in the roles that I have throughout my public career and it was an honor to have been chosen by so many as your candidate for United States Congress.
