This week, the New York Times reported that a conservative dark money group — led by the architect of the right-wing takeover of the Supreme Court — was the recipient of the single largest political contribution in history. The amount? $1.6 billion.

Yes, you read that right, $1.6 billion, with a b. That’s more than double the total amount raised by Trump’s presidential campaign during the entire 2020 presidential election.

With that kind of dark money, they can afford to fund their extreme right-wing ideological causes for years, well beyond the midterm elections. And we already know the long term goals of the GOP — banning abortion nationwide, raising taxes on working people and seniors, and bolstering extreme Republican state legislatures across the country.

But they can’t do that with a Democratic majority in charge of Congress. That’s why it’s so important we do everything we can to turn out voters ahead of the midterms. With a Democratic majority in Congress, we can continue fighting for progress.
