Jack, Democrats just blew up the media's "red wave" narrative once and for all.
On Tuesday, New York hosted a special election for a vacant congressional seat in a district that leaned Republican—Joe Biden won here by just 1.5 points, while winning by 4.4 points nationally. Marc Molinaro, the Republican candidate, was heavily favored, with polls showing him leading anywhere from three to 10 points heading into the election. Pat Ryan, the Democratic candidate, won by nearly four points.
You read that right: The Democratic candidate more than doubled Biden's winning margin in a race that almost no one expected them to win in the first place.

Ryan's win, while incredible, doesn't come in a vacuum. Though there have only been a small number of elections since the Supreme Court struck down Roe with their extremist Dobbs decision, Democrats have shown remarkable gains over 2020:

The news isn't any better for Republicans running for Senate: Trump endorsee Dr. Oz is imploding in Pennsylvania, polls show the Republican incumbent in Wisconsin falling behind, and the GOP's Senate committee is slashing ad spending as it struggles with fundraising. To put it simply, the red wave that pundits have been predicting for months appears to have vanished. Even Politico, which wrote off Democratic chances months ago, has taken notice:

Democrats have a shot at expanding their Senate majority, winning key downballot offices like secretary of state, taking majorities on critical state supreme courts, and maybe even holding on to the House. We can't afford to leave anything on the table.
