On Tuesday, there were 3,358 fires in the Brazilian Amazon, setting a horrifying record under Jair Bolsonaro. Since 2019, the Brazilian Amazon has seen record-breaking levels of fires and destruction each year. The Bolsonaro administration’s policies encourage land grabbing and violence against Indigenous peoples who protect the Amazon from destruction.
In the face of the Bolsonaro administration’s support of deforestation and burning, community response to combat fires is critical. Direct financial support sustains Indigenous-led efforts to strengthen fire brigades, develop integrated fire management, and mobilize to protect Indigenous land from burning and destruction.
Contributions today in support of our Amazon CeaseFire campaign will go directly to rapid response efforts on the front lines by our partners throughout the Amazon Basin.
You can have a direct impact on fire resistance efforts and Indigenous land rights with a donation today.
Thank you for moving us toward the future we know is possible! Your solidarity with Indigenous peoples of Amazonía makes all the difference.
