We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.

** Give something (up)
this holiday season.
------------------------------------------------------------
You've heard a lot from us this year, from our Medium ([link removed]) blog to the main-stage at SOCAP. We've written about why we changed our name, what an equitable economy looks like to us, and what we really mean by shifting capital.

Combined, these narratives paint the picture of our common future. To put it simply, we often reference a favorite quote of our CEO, Rodney Foxworth, that captures the essence of our shared future:

** “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
------------------------------------------------------------
- Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from a Birmingham Jail
This time last year, in Rodney's piece, Do Good By Giving Up More ([link removed]) , he argued that what is needed is "an entirely different intellectual edifice" to challenge the idea of "doing well by doing good" — the notion that we can all succeed without relinquishing actual power or wealth. He continued:

In order to build a just and equitable economy, we must reckon with our compounding moral debts and heal the wounds caused by generations of economic plunder and exploitation. And for those of us with power and wealth engendered by the status quo, it means giving some of it up — rather than doing well by doing good, it means doing good by giving up more; less privilege, less wealth, and less power.

Restorative investing is one such alternative. By supporting Common Future and our network leaders ([link removed]) , you are voting to reframe the whole system of charitable giving with equity at the center. We know we must shift capital in big ways to shift power — from individuals to investors and institutions. Why? Because our fates are tied together.

This is the idea behind Common Future; we can't rise until we all rise. We thank you for coming along during our transition. Here's wishing you a joyful holiday season.
