Dear friends of Lisette Nieves,
Please join us in honoring Lisette Nieves for her dedication to education and inclusivity at the 2022 City Limits Annual Gala & Hall of Fame Induction on October 26, 2022.
In 2011, Mayor Bloomberg designated October 26 as “City Limits Day” to honor our role “to build communities and help underrepresented groups find a voice.” We are excited to hold the 2022 annual gala on this special day.
A lifelong New Yorker and scholar, Lisette Nieves has brought her deep policy knowledge and executive leadership to a long list of major nonprofit and educational institutions. She is currently the President of the Fund for the City of New York, where she drives its mission to support innovative policies in government and nonprofits. In the course of two decades, Lisette’s stellar record in the public and private sectors has included senior leadership roles at city agencies such as the Department of Youth and Community Development, expanding workforce development at Year Up NY as its founding Executive Director, and establishing Lingo Ventures to shepherd social entrepreneurs, educators and organizational leaders across the nation to success.
Lisette is a Distinguished Clinical Professor at New York University, where she co-founded the Doctoral Program in Leadership and Innovation. Her commitment to ensuring educational access, fairness and equity as a standard, not exception, has made her an indispensable resource for multiple city and federal administrations. Lisette has served on mayoral transition teams and the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics in the Obama Administration. Most recently, Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro appointed her to the Naval Education Task Force and President Biden to the Americorps board.
City Limits believes that New York is better because of Lisette’s leadership, values and level of commitment.
As we come together to celebrate our 46th Anniversary, our mission has never been more important: To inform and empower New York City residents to demand a more equitable and just city.
Please join us in honoring Lisette’s leadership at the 2022 City Limits Annual Gala & Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, October 26, 6:30 - 9:30 pm at the Stanley Kaplan Penthouse-Lincoln Center. Tickets are $500 each. To purchase tickets or make a tax-deductible donation, please visit citylimitsgala.org.
Warm regards,
Marjorie Martay
