Dear John,

You know that when Texans see a problem, we set out to find a solution, usually with a combination of American ingenuity and our state’s well-known work ethic.

That’s why our team at TPPF has always rejected the idea that healthcare—one of the biggest problems our country faces—has to be solved by the federal government. While we believe that everyone should have access to great healthcare, we don’t believe the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare by a better name) was the right way to do it.

So we set about fixing it. First, we sued to have the Affordable Care Act declared unconstitutional. And we won...at least the first round. This year, a judge in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals said that since the individual mandate is now gone, the ACA is unconstitutional. There’s more to come on the lawsuit front. But in the meantime, we’re researching innovative solutions to help you get better, more affordable healthcare.

We’re exploring the possibility of allowing Texas doctors to dispense drugs directly from their offices. This has the potential to generate huge cost savings, and has proven safe in research.

We’re pushing to reduce licensing restrictions to make it easier for doctors to practice in multiple states. This will increase the number of qualified physicians who can practice in Texas and give better coverage to our rural areas. Plus, it will provide competition, which will improve care for you.

Finally, we’re promoting and researching Direct Primary Care, which lets you “subscribe” to a doctor like you do to Netflix, paying them directly and getting better care.

Regardless of how the ACA lawsuit resolves, we can push for Texas to lead the way on healthcare innovation and give you better care at lower prices. It should be as simple as that.

I’m very excited about this, and I hope it’s encouraging to you. If you’d like to make a tax-deductible year-end gift to TPPF, you may do so at this secure link:
