This November, Marylanders have a clear choice in what will be a pivotal election for our state: a path of far-right Republican extremism that wants to move us backward by attacking our basic rights, or a path to progress with Democratic leaders like Anthony and I who are committed to creating a Maryland that leaves no one behind.

Anthony is running for Attorney General against, Michael Peroutka, a self-described “confederate” who says he’s still angry Maryland didn’t join the confederacy during the Civil War — I’m running against a similar far-right extremist.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Dan Cox supports restricting abortion access, expanding access to weapons of war, and overturning the 2020 presidential election results. Like Anthony’s opponent who he has endorsed, he trafficks dangerous conspiracy theories and hateful rhetoric, which have no place in Maryland.

While Cox is running for governor to advance his extreme MAGA agenda, I’m running to create work, wages, and wealth for every Marylander and ensure everyone has a seat at the table. I know what it’s like to struggle and overcome the odds: after losing my father at age three and being raised by a single mother, I went on to become a U.S. Army Captain who led soldiers in combat in Afghanistan, a Rhodes Scholar, a small-business owner, and an executive at one of the nation’s largest poverty-fighting organizations.

Now, like Anthony, I want to fight for you and every Marylander: we’re both committed to protecting your rights from this dangerous extremism and fighting for justice for all when we make it to Annapolis. But first, we need to win the general election on November 8, and our races are highly competitive.
