Can you believe that August is almost over? I don’t know about you, but I feel like this year is flying by!
I was sitting at my desk today and realized the Groundwork team never filled you in about a major milestone that took place this month – the FIRST Groundwork team retreat!
It was awesome, and I have to take a moment to tell you all about it…
Despite all the work we do together remotely every day, this was the first time the full team got to meet in person. After the last few years we’ve had, I am taken aback when I get to experience moments like that.
Our team spent the first night enjoying an amazing Mediterranean-style dinner at the home of our Senior Advisor, Julia, complemented by homemade sangria from Emily, our Executive Director, who you hear from often. We caught up on Anthony’s upcoming wedding, the new Beyoncé album, Charles’ insane bourbon collection and all of my tattoos. Check out some behind-the-scenes pics of our time together!

Some key takeaways I feel you’ve got to know:
➡️ There’s an official Groundwork Project playlist, and it is heavily loaded with Whitney & Stevie Wonder. Who knows? Maybe we’ll share it with you soon…
➡️ Matt will be there with Dunks when we all need caffeine most, Trey is a big fan of icebreakers, and Emily goes into full on mom-mode with endless snacks in moments like this.
➡️ Myself, Emily, Anthony, and Charles are your Groundwork bowling champs! We manifested victory by naming ourselves “The Winners” for our friendly competition. BTW we beat Joe’s team 🥳
And of course, we did a deep dive on our vision – from reflecting on our collective values to what we've built so far and the supporters that helped get us here, and most importantly, our priorities as we move towards 2023.
Friend, I can’t tell you all about 2023 just yet but we’ve got a lot cooking. So if you are eager to help us hit the ground running, please chip in a few bucks to Groundwork Project so we can make our new goals a reality. [[link removed]]
Hope I did a decent job taking you back to our retreat so you can imagine you were a part of it with us. Trust me, our supporters were on our mind. And yes, you always have an open invitation to join “The Winners” team 😉
More soon!
