House to Vote on Impeachment this week

This week, the House is set to vote on articles of impeachment against President Trump. Before a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives, articles of impeachment will be considered in the Rules Committee, of which I am a member. The Rules Committee will meet on Tuesday morning on the articles of impeachment.

House Judiciary Committee Advances Articles of Impeachment

I also serve on the House Judiciary Committee, which debated articles of impeachment throughout the week. When the Judiciary Committee finally voted to advance the articles of impeachment, my vote was a resounding NO. Ultimately, the Committee voted to advance articles of impeachment without the support of one single Republican on the committee, reaffirming that this the most partisan impeachment in history. Casework Highlight

A veteran came to our office because he believed he was entitled to Combat-Related Special Compensation and Concurrent Retirement Disability Pay. He became 100% disabled by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in 2015 and believed he was not getting the correct compensation amounts. We requested the Defense Finance and Accounting Service and the VA to complete an audit of his pay to determine if he is eligible for a retroactive payment. He was found to be eligible and funds were deposited one week from the date of our inquiry.

Lower Costs, More Cures

This week I voted in support of H.R. 19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, which lowers drug prices while encouraging innovation for cures for Arizonans like Ezra with Fragile X Syndrome. Arizona needs #MoreCures!
