A little over two years ago, our country lost Congressman John Lewis, a heroic fighter for Civil Rights his entire life, whether marching in Selma or moving these issues forward in Congress for decades. One of his proudest accomplishments was helping the Voting Rights Act of 1965 get signed into law, even risking his life to protect people's right to vote. After the Supreme Court struck down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act, Congressman Lewis led efforts to restore these protections in the House. The Voting Rights Advancement Act, which was renamed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act after his passing, was introduced to restore the integrity of the original Voting Rights Act and passed in the House one year ago. With voting suppression on the rise, Chris believes we must continue to fight to safeguard people's voices in our democracy by protecting the vote. If you agree that we must protect voting rights, join Chris and add your name today. As John Lewis said, “The vote is precious. It is almost sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democracy.” Chris is ready to honor not only John’s legacy, but the legacy of our free and fair country by ensuring that all can vote. Do you agree with Chris? Add your name to the petition today to tell the Senate to protect voting rights. Thank you, Team Coons |
