We hate to say we told you so. But even we’re surprised that this is happening so quickly. Here’s the New York Times headline:
Making matters worse, Ford and GM are all in on this Stalinist policy. They say they will soon stop making cars – er cars that are powered by gasoline, not windmills.
As we pointed out previously, Americans are divided on EVs – about 5% of new car sales in recent months are electric. But what is for sure is that voters DON’T want politicians telling them what kind of car they can buy.
This reminds us of the old Henry Ford line about the Model T: you can have it any color you want as long as it's black.
No word yet from the enviros where they plan to bury the toxic waste from tens of millions of dead batteries – made, of course, in China.
A Tesla in every driveway – whether you want it or not.
If someone has to foot the tab for unpaid student loans, we have a much better idea. Impose a tax on the storehouses of wealth in college endowments. Those endowments at the end of 2020 were valued at $691 billion, which means the number is likely closer to about $750 billion today. This money was never taxed. Given that the universities are the ones who put these students in debt in the first place with outrageous tuition, it’s only fair they should pay for delinquent debt from students who attended their universities.
For sure any debt incurred by students who attended one of the elite schools with massive endowments (listed below) should come out of these slush funds. Rather than having taxpayers foot the bill.
3) Abolish Student Loans – They Make College More Expensive
Speaking of the student loan scam, there’s no evidence that these federal loans reduce college costs. The bigger the loans, the higher the tuition the colleges charge.
We've run this gem from Mark Perry before, but it bears another look with Biden lavishing another trillion dollars or so on higher education via his student loan bailout:
On August 11, the CDC released new COVID guidance that called for ending differentiation based on vaccine status:
"CDC’s COVID-19 prevention recommendations no longer differentiate based on a person’s vaccination status because breakthrough infections occur, though they are generally mild, and persons who have had COVID-19 but are not vaccinated have some degree of protection against severe illness from their previous infection"
The same day they added a box to the page with Biden's proclamation banning unvaccinated visitors that made it look like any day, the ban would lift and Djokovic could play:
Last night – on the eve of player check-in for the US Open – the yellow box disappeared... and no other changes were made to the page. Ban is on. Djokovic is out.
