I proudly voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, comprehensive legislation to lower costs for Sacramento County families and small businesses, reduce health care and prescription drug costs, and combat climate change.
The Inflation Reduction Act is a game-changer for hardworking Sacramento County families who are struggling with rising kitchen table costs. This transformative legislation will help lower costs at the pharmacy and at the gas pump while putting more money in the pockets of families.
This bill will also make the single largest climate investment in U.S. history to protect the health of our environment and families and further our transition to a clean energy future while creating millions of new good-paying jobs.
Specifically, this bill will:
- Lower the cost of health care by extending ACA enhanced premium tax credits for three more years, locking in lower health care premiums that will save 13 million people an average of $800 a year
- Reduce the price of prescription drugs for our seniors by empowering Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and cap Medicare Part D out-of-pocket drug spending
- Cap insulin costs at $35 a month for seniors and individuals with disabilities on Medicare
- Reduce carbon emissions by nearly 40 percent by 2030 by investing in American clean energy production and manufacturing
- Invest significantly in tools to combat wildfires and drought
- Lower the federal deficit by more than $300 billion over the next decade
- Create more than 9 million good-paying jobs
- Not raise taxes on families making $400,000 or less and no new taxes on small businesses
The Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law by President Biden on August 16th.
