John,

Over the past few months, Republicans have tried to place all the blame for the inflation crisis squarely on Democrats. Instead of putting forward real solutions to combat rising prices, however, they’d rather continue complaining from the sidelines.

Let's be honest, John, we know Republicans aren’t sincere about their supposed concerns regarding inflation. If they were, they would work with President Biden and Congressional Democrats to address one of the biggest drivers of rising prices: climate change.

Extreme weather events caused by climate change such as droughts, heatwaves, and flooding disrupt agriculture, damage critical infrastructure, and lead to labor shortages. All of these disrupt global supply chains and significantly contribute to the rising costs of food, electronics, and more.

While the GOP has fixated on trying to ramp up oil production, Democrats took tangible steps towards tackling inflation by investing hundreds of billions of dollars into clean energy and combating climate change as part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), among several other comprehensive measures.

If we want to rein in rising prices, we need Members of Congress who are willing to address ALL the drivers of inflation. With most Congressional Republicans still denying the need to address climate change, it’s up to Democrats and our SEEC Members to get things done to address this key contributor to the crisis.
