There is no “out of sight, out of mind” when it comes to who you are. Nobody should feel ashamed, outed, nor othered while in a space for learning and growing. Quality K-12 education is a fundamental right for every student, in every state.
Masked as an attempt to implement age or developmentally appropriate standards, recent regulations aim to shame and hide LGBTQ+ identity, history, culture, and students.
Politicians and lawmakers around the country unjustly deprive LGBTQ+ youth of the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the classroom and their non-LGBTQ+ peers from learning about LGBTQ+ communities.
This is erasure to the highest degree.
