There is no “out of sight, out of mind” when it comes to who you are. Nobody should feel ashamed, outed, nor othered while in a space for learning and growing. Quality K-12 education is a fundamental right for every student, in every state.

Masked as an attempt to implement age or developmentally appropriate standards, recent regulations aim to shame and hide LGBTQ+ identity, history, culture, and students. 

Politicians and lawmakers around the country unjustly deprive LGBTQ+ youth of the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the classroom and their non-LGBTQ+ peers from learning about LGBTQ+ communities. 

This is erasure to the highest degree. 

Earlier this week we shared our State Policy Scorecards with you so you could see how your state stacks up. But, even if you’re one of the lucky states where students are supported there are plenty more where there’s work to be done.
