Advance Auto Parts earns $144.4M in Q2

Advance Auto Parts earned $144.4 million in the second quarter, down from $178.7 million in the year-ago period, on quarterly revenue of $2.67 billion, up 0.8% from $2.65 billion in Q2 of 2021. The company thinks it can still meet its goals in the long term, according to Chief Financial Officer Jeff Shepherd.

ScanSource had revenue of $962.3 million in its fiscal fourth quarter, up 12.9% from $852.7 million a year ago. The company's quarterly profit was $19.9 million, down from $20.7 million.

Amid economic uncertainty, more businesses are circumventing low warehouse vacancies and higher storage costs by holding excess inventory in shipping containers and truck trailers in secured areas, but experts warn the practice could further strain supply chains. "When a trailer is being used for storage, it can't be used for transporting other goods," says professor Lisa Ellram of the Miami University Farmer School of Business in Ohio.

Report spotlights need for sales funnel advancements

Nearly three-quarters of sales funnels don't generate money, with the top reasons being a lack of knowledge and available technology, reports Growth Thinking. A little more than 50% of firms polled have funnels broken into five steps that are handled by six to 10 people, with 24% of respondents reporting conversion rates of 1% to 5%.

More than 30 years after the introduction of customer relationship software, companies that employ it do not consider it quite as efficient anymore, according to a survey of sales and marketing professionals by Ascend2 and Insightly. Just 21% respondents rate themselves as "extremely satisfied" with their software solution, while 62% are "somewhat satisfied."
