The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) recently published the first three installments of a special investigative series into the political funding network of oil billionaire and GOP megadonor Charles Koch. In the first article, we track a whopping $1.1 billion that over two-dozen Koch-controlled organizations spent during the 2020 election cycle to inlfuence public policy and politics—and what these investments accomplished for the libertarian network. Next, we report on a giant $1.2 billion cash infusion into a dark money organization led by Koch’s son, Chase Koch, giving him a loaded gun for future influence operations. Finally, we show how the Koch funding network used a mainstream money manager to shield close to $100 million in grants from the public. In addition, we have other stories including a deep dive into Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s (D-Ariz.) private equity donors and a look at some of the American State Legislative Council’s (ALEC) most extreme members. Also this month, we filed our second lawsuit against Ohio Attorney General David Yost, who has refused to turn over public records about his dealings with the Republican Attorneys General Association. “Attorney General Yost has stonewalled CMD, the courts, and the people of Ohio for years to hide his dealings with RAGA’s hyper-partisan and pay-to-play operations,” said CMD Executive Director Arn Pearson. “It is high time for Yost to comply with Ohio’s freedom of information law and stop hiding behind flimsy excuses.” And our efforts to expose the Right's game plan for forcing a constitutional convention received a big boost from exclusives by Insider and the Associated Press.
