Higher education has long been regarded as the “Great Equalizer.” Increasing access to the American dream, education helps our citizens reach their full potential through critical career development and financial growth.
Yet over the years, fewer Americans have been able to reap the benefits of our education system for one common reason: student loan debt. Higher education has become too expensive, and Democrats have made it a priority to change that. Thankfully, Americans can start to see the reflections of their work.
Today, President Joe Biden unveiled a new plan to alleviate the pressure on student loan borrowers. This initiative forgives up to $10,000 for those making under $125,000 and gives an additional $10,000 in relief for federal Pell Grant recipients. Those with undergraduate loans will be able to cap repayment at 5% of their monthly income.
