In the first competitive House special election since the right-wing, runaway Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade , Democrat Pat Ryan decisively won his race in upstate New York last night.

NY-19’s special election was a stunning defeat for Kevin McCarthy, Elise Stefanik, and far-right MAGA Republicans — and a tremendous victory for House Democrats, reproductive freedom, and our democracy.

Last night, New Yorkers said NO to advancing abortion bans, said NO to ending Social Security, said NO to attacking voting rights, and said NO to undermining faith in fair elections by rejecting the GOP’s extreme agenda.
