The Biden Admin’s new DACA rule completely goes against promises made by the Dems to expand protections for immigrants.
Hey Friend,
Let me catch you up on the new Biden Admin’s rule on the DACA program. Today, DHS, the agency that runs the DACA program, released a final rule on DACA. I want to start by saying - DACA renewals are still being accepted & processed - but this new rule does NOT help to strengthen DACA, despite all of President Biden’s promises to do so.
With issuing this new rule, the Biden Admin had an opportunity to update DACA’s arbitrary 2007 cut-off date or process the over 80,000 applications that were frozen last year - but they chose to go with more of the same - maintaining outdated eligibility cutoff dates and leaving hundreds of thousands of young people without protections. President Biden cannot hide behind the courts or Congress, he can protect DACA recipients by defending our victory in court and by pushing Congress to take action to pass permanent protections! Can you add your name to our petition to President Biden?
We’ve always known that DACA has never been enough for our immigrant communities since it left out millions of our loved ones from the start & has left the nearly 1 million DACA recipients in limbo since the program was partially ended last year. The Biden Admin’s new DACA rule completely goes against promises made by the Dems to expand protections for immigrants.
While we fight for congress to take action on permanent protections for all, President Biden must take bold action to protect DACA recipients before it's too late. Any DACA recipient who loses their job or falls out of status is a direct result of the Biden Administration’s insufficient action. President Biden can and must do better. Join us, Friend.
