Hey John,
We have achieved so much this year! Thank you for being a part of this amazing community making change in the world. This Saturday, December 21st join us at the Meetup: 2019 Achievements + 2020 Goals to hear about the amazing things we've achieved together and what our plans and goals are for 2020. Meetups happen every Saturday at 11am at the Berkeley Animals Rights Center for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all taking place at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center, 2425 Channing Way, unless otherwise noted). Action events are colored in blue and community events are colored in orange -- both are crucial to our movement!
- Wednesday, December 18th, 3:00pm: Outreach at BART Station - Direct Action Everywhere SF Bay Area will be outreaching at Powell St. Bart Station. Anyone with any level of experience in outreach are welcomed and this is a great opportunity to participate in any capacity you feel comfortable with! Location: 899 Market St, San Francisco, CA.
- Monday, December 9th, 9:00am: Pack the Courtroom for DxE's First Trial: Diestel Turkey Ranch - Come support DxE's first trial: Day 5! DxE sued Diestel Turkey Ranch in 2017. Diestel, which is a major supplier of Whole Foods Market, falsely advertised that its turkeys are raised outdoors in picturesque conditions when, in fact, the vast majority are raised in massive industrial sheds. We'll be hearing from licensed veterinarian Sherstin Rosenberg on her opinion on the conditions she observed in videos of Diestel Turkey Ranch before DTR begins to call its own witnesses. Come learn about the legal process and see how Diestel Turkey Ranch plans to defend its deception of the public. Location: 1221 Oak St. Oakland, CA 94612-4217.
- Saturday, December 21st, 1:00pm: How to Change the World in One Generation - DxE Intro Workshop - Right now the most vulnerable individuals are being exploited on a massive scale and it will only get worse if we don’t take action now. But can we as average citizens really make a difference to help them? The answer is YES. In Direct Action Everywhere’s workshop, you will learn the history of social movements, the ground-breaking new research that shows the power of ordinary people, and the bold plan to nonviolently abolish the most harmful industry on earth that kills billions of animals every year. This interactive workshop was created by DxE co-founder and former Northwestern law professor Wayne Hsiung. This month, it will be led by DxE organizers Dean Wyrzykowski and Rocky Chau! After this workshop you will have the tools to begin taking high impact action with thousands around the world to create historic change by saving billions of lives. If you're interested in joining our community for change by becoming a chapter member, this workshop is required.
- Sunday, December 22nd, 2:00pm: Holiday Games and Cookie Extravaganza - Come celebrate the holidays at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or any other holiday, come with your ugliest Holiday sweater and enjoy delicious VEGAN hot chocolate and desserts at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center. We will be holding various holiday games including a cookie decorating competition and gingerbread house building project! We will also be facilitating a voluntary gift exchange (Food or donation can be a gift too) which you can sign up at here: https://www.elfster.com/gift-exchanges/ace5eece-6d9e-4e31-897e-ccb3f2f92a41/?join=ywnl EVERYONE IS WELCOME! - vegan or not - but all food at the event must be vegan.
