Hi John.

I hope you and your family are doing well. I understand a lot of folks are frustrated these days. Kansas families need solutions – not more bickering and partisanship in Washington, D.C.

That’s why I wanted to share a special update today on my work to build a better future.

I know good ideas can come from Republicans and Democrats, whether that’s rebuilding our infrastructure or cutting wasteful spending. I’m focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to rebuild our economy with more jobs and lower prices.

Here’s how:

Changing Washington

This work begins by fighting corruption and extremism across the political spectrum so we can deliver results for hardworking Kansans.

That’s why I stood up to leaders in my own party to stop pay raises for members of Congress and to stop insider stock trading in Congress.

Image

My job is to serve every person and corner of our community to the best of my ability – regardless of party.

I believe that everyone deserves a government that works for them – not for special interests or big corporations.

That’s why I was glad to also recently vote for a new law that stands up to Big Pharma. It finally lets Medicare negotiate with drug companies for lower prices.

The new law also caps the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors on Medicare.

No one should have to choose between paying for lifesaving medicines or their groceries while drug companies make huge profits.

You should never have to pay more than three times what people in other countries pay for their medicines.

Passing a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

As Vice Chair of the Infrastructure Committee, I worked with folks in both parties to pass a historic infrastructure law.

Right now, the law is helping Kansas rebuild our roads, bridges, railways, and much more.

The bipartisan infrastructure law is making a difference for Kansas.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has said the law is fiscally responsible, and now it’s delivering results.

That includes everything from modernizing U.S. 69 in Overland Park to replacing lead pipes in Olathe.

The bipartisan infrastructure law is creating jobs – and investing in our ports to secure U.S. supply chains and lower costs.

I recently got an update on how the bipartisan infrastructure law is replacing lead pipes in Olathe. Every Kansan deserves safe, clean, and affordable drinking water.

Making it in America – Not China

I know folks are feeling the pinch from rising prices. We have to tackle supply chain backlogs that are helping to drive inflation around the globe.

It’s past time that we boost American industry. That’s why I was honored to work as a negotiator with Republicans and Democrats to pass the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act.

I’ve made it a top priority to support Kansas manufacturing. For instance, I was glad to recently secure federal support for the Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Automation Engineering Technology Program. This is a model program that supports workforce training in manufacturing and engineering studies so we can make more products in America.

The CHIPS and Science Act is a major, bipartisan economic law that'll help lower costs for hardworking Kansans. It helps do that, for instance, by making important investments in American semiconductor manufacturing.

Semiconductor chips are used in everything from cars to medical devices to consumer goods. Unfortunately, an ongoing chip shortage has contributed to inflation and driven up prices on many products.

But with this new bipartisan bill, we now have tools to make our supply chains more resilient. It also includes support for small- and medium-sized manufacturers – not just large corporations – which I’ve long pushed hard for.

Image
Earlier this year, I met with auto workers at the GM plant in KCK and heard about how a lack of chips was harming their facility. The chip shortage led to the idling of the General Motors plant in KCK for several months last year – forcing nearly 2,000 local workers to stay home. The bipartisan CHIPS and Science law will help us make more chips in the U.S.

This is a huge step toward fixing our supply chains, creating good-paying jobs, tackling inflation, and standing up to China.

I am serving you in the U.S. House of Representatives to bring a new generation of leadership to Washington.

Whether we agree on every issue or not, I’m always here for you. My job is to serve every person, and every corner, of our community – regardless of party.

Instead of more extremism or empty promises, I know we can keep moving forward together. And as I keep working on concrete and bipartisan solutions to build a better future, we’re always here to connect you with any resources that we can.
