'I didn’t have to worry' – How the Child Tax Credit Helped Families Catch Up on Rent and Improved Health

Children’s Health Watch recently published this enlightening report, which highlights the economic, health, and mental health experiences of families with young children during the pandemic and the impact of the advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments on their lives. Among other areas, the report found that families with immigrant parents were 42% less likely to receive advanced CTC payments.

Make Work Pay Again: An Argument for Expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit

In this report on the Earned Income Tax Credit, Community Service Society of New York (CSSNY)  takes a deep dive into the EITC program—the design of the tax credit, its historical arc, the gaps in its reach and implementation—and provides recommendations for improvement. 

Immigrant Children’s Medicaid and CHIP Access and Participation: A Data Profile

The Migration Policy Institute recently published a policy brief, which presents U.S. and state-level estimates of the number of immigrant children whose families have incomes low enough to qualify them for Medicaid and CHIP, and among them, the number who are either federally eligible or ineligible due to their immigration status.

A new National Academies committee will be conducting an analysis of federal policies that contribute to preventable and unfair differences in health status and outcomes experienced by all U.S. racial and ethnic minority populations. The committee welcomes input on federal policies that contribute to racial and ethnic health inequities and potential solutions, and is interested in hearing about lived experiences navigating federal programs and systems including barriers and solutions from community members and organizations.
