I couldn’t be more excited to bring you this breaking news, John.
President Biden just announced $20,000 in student loan forgiveness for millions of Americans and an extension on the student loan payment pause. Saving money for millions, this is just the latest in a string of Democratic victories. From creating good-paying jobs and boosting American manufacturing to combating climate change and inflation, President Biden and Democrats are delivering on their promises to the American people.
While $20,000 won’t completely eliminate the burden of student loan debt and the cost of higher education, it’s a monumental step. Roughly 41 million people will feel the effect of this latest success, entirely eliminating debt for a third of borrowers and cutting it in half for another 20 percent.
Democrats are prepared to keep working to make education more affordable for everyone. To do it, we must hold our Democratic majority in Congress.
