John —
In case we haven’t met, my name is Deb VanderGaast. I’m a mom, a registered nurse, and until just a few days ago, I was the director of a child care center for children with special needs.
I was devastated to have to close our doors. But the reality is that Iowa – along with the entire nation – is in a childcare crisis. Families struggle to afford care for their children while facilities like mine struggle to pay our workers a living wage. Time Magazine even highlighted my story in a piece last weekend as an example of what’s happening all over the country.
We need serious government support to fix this childcare crisis. That’s why I’m running for the Iowa State Senate in District 41. If you agree that we urgently need to fix our childcare crisis in Iowa, I hope you’ll consider supporting my campaign with a contribution today. ([link removed])
