John, the holiday season is a time to reflect on the people who matter most … and, for me, that includes my veteran family.
I think of the soldiers who stood at my bedside after the helicopter I was piloting was shot down in Vietnam — the comrades I still gather with every year on July 15 for a “celebration of life” on my Alive Day.
I think of the service members who were with me on some of my darkest days and who helped shape who I am today. And I think of all the men and women who have served.
As you spend time with your families and celebrate this season of love and generosity, I hope you remember and celebrate veterans, as well.
Veterans of all eras have made great sacrifices for our country. And, too often, the promises that were made to them are not kept. DAV works every day to ensure those promises are fulfilled, but it’s only with your support that DAV can continue to provide veterans with the support they desperately need.
Please spread love and joy to veterans in need by making a special holiday gift to DAV today.
