Welcome to Monday, December 16th, Jack and Jill Frosts...

The full House is prepping for a vote on two articles of impeachment.

The House Judiciary Committee on Friday approved two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in regards to his conduct with Ukraine.

The party-line 23-17 vote completes the House committees' impeachment activity. All reps will participate in a floor vote this week, likely on Wednesday, though the timeline could still change.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday that he's not trying to be a "fair juror" in the Senate trial.

"I think what's best for the country is to get this thing over with. I have clearly made up my mind. I'm not trying to hide the fact that I have disdain for the accusations in the process," Graham said.

A day earlier, the New York Times editorial board published an op-ed in support of impeachment:

"[T]he story told by the two articles of impeachment approved on Friday morning by the House Judiciary Committee is short, simple and damning."

Food Waste

The bottom drawer of your fridge will confirm: 50% of all produce in the U.S. is thrown away.

At the same time, 41 million Americans struggle with hunger, and 15 million households are food insecure (defined as problems getting food, a shortage of food in the house, or reduced food intake).

The U.S. Department of Agriculture draws the obvious connection: “Wholesome food that could have helped feed families in need is sent to landfills.

Americans waste as much as 40% of their food, which is worth $160 to $218 billion a year.

A U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) report finds that grocery stores and similar retailers are responsible for at least 10% of the wasted food.

Read about various efforts by the USDA and government to reduce food waste and combat hunger in America. Then tell your reps:

Are you concerned about food waste?

SCOTUS on POTUS Taxes

The Supreme Court has agreed to take on three cases regarding whether Trump can block the release of his financial records.

Lower courts have ruled that the president has to turn over his tightly-guarded financial records to Congress and New York state investigators.

The hearings will begin in March, and SCOTUS will make a ruling by the end of its current term in June 2020.

How do you feel about SCOTUS taking up the case of Trump's taxes?

And, in the End...

It's Boston Tea Party Day.

On this date in 1773, one of America's eminent political protests occurred: a group of American colonists dumped 342 chests of tea - imported by the British East India Company - into Boston harbor.

PIC-END

History says it was about "taxation without representation."

Malcolm Gladwell says in his Revisionist History podcast that it was about tea smugglers trying to gain a market advantage.

Either way, seep some leaves in honor of the day,
