Since we launched this campaign, Republicans and Washington’s armchair pundits have tried to say that Democrats should expect to lose at the ballot box. But last night’s victory in NY-19 proves that is absolutely not true.

“This is a significant victory for Democrats nationally,” said election analyst Steve Kornacki when NY-19 was called adding, “This is not the result you would expect to see in a strongly Republican climate.”

In a bellwether district with a clear contrast and abortion rights on the line, voters made absolutely clear last night that we will not allow Republicans to roll back our fundamental rights and freedoms.

Just like what happened in Kansas, this is just another indication that in places where national talking heads think we can’t win, voters are showing up to fight for our constitutional rights.

North Carolina is primed to flip in November. We can elect Cheri Beasley and EXPAND our majority. But only if we all fight for it. We have to do the work, and that is why we are asking you today:

Republicans like our opponent Ted Budd got exactly what they wanted when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. They put choice on the ballot, and the contrast could not be clearer.

Elect Cheri Beasley and secure the decisive 51st vote to protect abortion rights once and for all – or elect Ted Budd and give Republicans another vote for a national abortion ban in the Senate.

Nonpartisan experts said NY-19’s special election would be a “bellwether” for November after Republicans put choice on the ballot. The result is clear: Voters are fired up and furious at Republicans’ attacks on our rights. People understand the stakes of this election.
