Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. Franklin Votes Against Democrat Inflation Package

Image

Inflation is at a 40 year high and Americans are struggling just to get by, paying more for everything – especially rent, gas, and groceries. Sadly, the Democrats’ solution to everything is to spend more money – the very thing that created runaway inflation in the first place. This bill, pushed through on straight party lines, will raise taxes, double the size of the IRS in order to target hardworking Americans, and further increase inflation during a recession with hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending for Green New Deal initiatives. Democrats know voters will reject their extreme agenda at the polls in November, so they are ramming this costly monstrosity through as a last gasp and handing American taxpayers the bill. I opposed this reckless spending bill and will continue to fight the Democrat’s pro-inflation agenda that is destroying the American Dream.

Franklin Demands Answers from Department of Education on Advisory Board Selection

Image

During pandemic school lockdowns, parents got a closer look at  the curriculum their children were learning. In many places it included critical race theory and inappropriate content. Parents who raised concerns were called “domestic terrorists” by the Justice Department. The Department of Education recently announced a new National Parents and Families Engagement Council to facilitate dialogue between parents and educators. Yet the only members selected were ideologically friendly organizations that do not reflect the legitimate concerns of many parents. Parent groups who questioned education decisions during the pandemic lockdowns were not given a voice on this board. Selection of board members must be ideologically balanced under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which governs agency councils and boards. That’s why 17 of my colleagues joined me to demand answers on how the Education Department chose council members. Parents who challenge the status quo also deserve a voice. In the News

  • Franklin and colleagues push back on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new atrazine requirements: Atrazine is an herbicide used to protect corn, sugarcane, and other crops from damaging weeds. For nearly 60 years, atrazine has been a reliable and proven herbicide for effective and sustainable farming practices. The EPA recently proposed unworkable restrictions on the use of atrazine at a time when our Florida farmers face labor shortages and higher costs to do business. I joined more than 90 of my House colleagues pressuring the EPA to cut this unnecessary restriction on atrazine. Click here to read the full letter.
