Dear friend,

Today marks six months of war in Ukraine. As I reflect on the staggering loss of life,
homes, and livelihoods, I continue to be inspired by the remarkable response from the
Mercy Corps community.

In the weeks leading up to the start of the war, Mercy Corps began positioning teams and
supplies at the Polish and Romanian borders to ensure we could respond quickly. Within
hours of the conflict breaking out, as millions of people began streaming across the
border, our team members and local partners were there to help them find food, shelter,
and critical information.

This kind of emergency mobilization requires extraordinary planning and investment —
including the essential resources provided by Mercy Corps’ Global Emergency Response
Fund. [ [link removed] ]Will will you
help us raise $40,000 by August 31 to provide emergency resources in 16 countries facing
some of the most complex humanitarian crises around the world?

people fleeing the violence.

Our teams are working round the clock in Ukraine and in countries like Somalia and
Afghanistan that are experiencing the effects of conflict and climate change.

In Ukraine, we’ve reached 88,000+ people so far with life-saving aid including
evacuating families, distributing supplies, providing shelter, and psychosocial
support.

In Somalia, we’ve distributed food, water, hygiene kits, and cash assistance to
alleviate hunger and meet the basic needs of nearly 25,000 people facing extreme
drought.

In Afghanistan, we’re rebooting operations after reaching more than 370,000 people in
2020 — ensuring access to clean water, power, cash assistance, and job training.

Our Global Emergency Response Fund supports our work in countries facing high-priority
crises, including: Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, the Democratic
Republic of Congo, Iraq, Libya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, South Sudan,
Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Yemen.

[ [link removed] ]Your contribution today will help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 for the Global
Emergency Response Fund by August 31. Please help us provide lifesaving support to the
people and communities who need it most.
