Folks, we just won the special election for New York’s 19th Congressional District!
I am looking forward to representing the great people of this district, including my neighbors, my friends, and the community I call home. It is the honor of my life to bring your voices with me to Washington.
All of the hard work and energy poured into this race has paid off. The incredible team of grassroots donors and volunteers who believed in us from the start made the difference in this competitive race. I am so unbelievably grateful for the support you’ve given this campaign.
We overcame so much to win this seat. From the start, pundits doubted whether a Democrat could win this upstate New York seat. Republican super PACs spent millions of dollars on ads attacking me.
We sent a strong message to the rest of the country today: voters aren’t going to back down from the fight to protect reproductive freedoms.
This election was about choice and protecting our personal freedoms, and just as we saw earlier this month in Kansas, ensuring reproductive rights are safe is top of mind for voters.
Our campaign was also about passing gun safety legislation, about combating increasing costs and a worsening economy, about protecting our planet for future generations. And voters made it clear: they want to see progress on these issues, not obstruction by Republicans.
Team, I am so proud of what we accomplished. We’re not taking any breaks though – we need to look towards the November election as well, when we’re on the ballot for a full term.
But for now, I want to say thank you. Without you, this campaign would not have been a success.
Yours in service,
Pat
