Tell the Biden Administration:
NO NEW OCEAN DRILLING LEASES

A proposed plan from the Interior Department would allow nearly a dozen new drilling projects to move forward over the next five years.

New offshore drilling leases would lock us into polluting fossil fuels for decades. Tell the Biden Administration: we must protect coastal communities, advance our climate goals, and stop dangerous offshore drilling projects.

GOAL: 35,000 ACTIONS
TAKE ACTION

Friend,

Despite signing historic climate legislation into law, the Biden Administration is considering a five-year plan that could allow nearly a dozen new offshore oil and gas projects.

Communities along the Gulf Coast and in Alaska see offshore drilling for what it is: a menace to their public health, a constant threat to their local economies and livelihoods, and a major driver of the extreme weather that is destroying their homes.

The pollution released from fossil fuel infrastructure poses enormous health risks to coastal communities. As oil is burned into our air and atmosphere, pollution and temperatures rise, risking our health, our safety, and the future of our entire planet. And oil spills can happen at a moment's notice — completely devastating nearby communities and ecosystems.

But right now, while the Biden Administration's public comment period is open for feedback, activists like you can make a difference by pushing back on new oil and gas leases.

LCV has already delivered over 5,000 comments from activists who oppose these leases, but we need to deliver at least 30,000 more to have a realistic shot at influencing the Biden administration's decision. Join us in taking action today.

The climate bill recently signed into law was historic, but it was also a compromise that included troubling provisions seeking to advance oil and gas drilling on public lands and waters. The fact is, there should be no new oil and gas leasing. That's why we're calling on Congress and the Biden administration to use every tool available to end new oil and gas lease sales, including the Interior Department finalizing an offshore drilling plan with no new lease sales.

If corporate polluters win this fight, oil companies will leave us dependent on fossil fuels for decades to come — we can't go backwards. New drilling would put our coastal communities, marine life, public health, and the climate at an unimaginable risk.

Please, take a few seconds right now to tell the Biden Administration to put people above polluter profits and reject new drilling leases today.

Thank you for standing up for our environment.

Onward,
