Team,
As an elected official, I know it's my obligation to use my position to serve the people – not to benefit from personal financial gain. Unfortunately many of our elected officials often abuse their position by using insider knowledge to trade and profit from the stock market.
That's why I just sent a bipartisan letter to House leadership reiterating my previous calls to hold a vote on legislation to ban stock trading by members of Congress.
While the STOCK Act – which prohibits members of Congress from using the private information they get access to while in their roles for personal gain – is currently in place, a recent study found that 70 members have already violated this legislation.
I'm leading the fight to stop corruption on Capitol Hill by pressuring the House to move forward after months of delays on an all-out stock trading ban.
Do you agree it's time to ban members of Congress and their families from trading individual stocks? Take our poll: [link removed]
