Networks across the country are calling it, JOHN — I’m officially the Democratic nominee here in NY-11!

Race called

JOHN, you’ve stepped up to support this campaign in ways that I never could have imagined. Whether by donating, knocking on doors, making phone calls, or through much appreciated words of encouragement, I’m so grateful to have you as a vital member of this team.

I’m proud of tonight’s victory, but you and I know that this is just the first step towards flipping NY-11 and delivering real progress for New Yorkers. I promise that I won’t slow down or ease up, and I hope I can count on you for the same.

I’m in this fight because I’m tired of watching my opponent, Nicole Malliotakis, put the extremist views of the national Republican Party above the real concerns of her constituents. While her constituents are saying they feel unsafe in their neighborhood, she’s voting to put more guns in the hands of criminals. While people were struggling to fill their gas tanks this summer, Nicole voted to keep prices high because her priority was appeasing big oil.

According to some pundits, none of that matters. They say I'm naive to be in this fight - that what is broken in America cannot be fixed. But I’ve always believed that the story of this country is that we do what others say is impossible. That's not being naive, that’s what makes us patriots.

The truth is, we all want a government that will improve the economy, not control women’s bodies; we want safe schools and weapons of war off our streets; and we want a country where labor is respected, hard work is rewarded, and we see each other as neighbors, not political combatants.

That is worth fighting for.

Together, let's prove to all the cynics, the dividers, and the naysayers out there that when we are united, anything is possible.

I’ll be forever grateful for your support in getting us this far. And I’m ready and eager to have you by my side for our most important fight yet.

Thank you,
