In the nearly two months since the Dobbs decision, abortion laws—and the response to them—are in the news nearly every day. The horrors of the post-Roe landscape are evident, as in the case of a woman in Louisiana forced to carry a wanted fetus to term, even though it never developed a skull, or the case of a parentless 16 year old deemed by a judge to be insufficiently mature to obtain an abortion.
As brutal as the reality is, the resistance in every state, red, blue, and purple, is just as fierce. A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated as Kansans roundly defeated a ballot initiative that would have paved the way for a total abortion ban.
As we saw in Kansas, the tide of opposition is rising, driven by droves of pro-choice women and progressives who are newly registering to vote. This dynamic was key to the victory in Kansas, where women and Democrats were disproportionately entering the electorate, even in the red state.
Here’s (finally) the point of this email: We can win in November. There are millions of voters out there who share our values and want to make their voices heard, many for the first time. The catch is, we have a lot of work to do to get them registered. That’s why we’re teaming up with VoteProChoice to raise money to register pro-choice voters across the country. Can you help us meet our goal?
