John,

"..I haven’t been hanged yet. But holy moly, this is just crazy. The place has lost its mind.”

This was the shocking comment made by Rusty Bowers, Republican member of the Arizona House for 18 years, most recently as Speaker of the Arizona House. Bowers rejected Rudy Giuliani's indimidation tactics and Donald Trump's pleading to overthrow the will of the people and democracy in Arizona, to hand the election to Trump.

He even testified about it before the January 6th Committee, refusing to take the coward's path that has so far defined Mike Pence--whom Trump told Mark Meadows deserved to be hanged that day. For Bowers, sharing the truth about the attempted coup with the Committee was it for him as a Republican, as the authoritarian cultists who run today's GOP weren't about to let that go unpunished.
Just another case I cover in my series on Youtube, called "The Takedown w Cliff Schecter," to which I humbly ask you to subscribe. At The Takedown, I tell one-minute "shorts" and longer three-eight minute stories geared towards sharing one simple truth with the viewer, a truth our mainstream media's too scared, greedy and/or careerist to tell:

It is not just Donald Trump, but the entire Republican Party that's become an autocratic entity rife w/ crony corruption, religious fanaticism, bigotry & cruelty. It's leaders seek, as a goal, to overthrow democratic govrernance. This is why I ask you to subscribe to my channel, so you can view these stories, share them with others and hopefully impact the upcoming election.
Bowers is like Reps. Liz Cheney & Pete Meijer, two of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump. All of them did their duty, upheld the oath they swore to the U.S. & Arizona Constitutions. Just that fact made it so they no longer had a place in today's Republican Party. You don't have to like their politics--I think most of what they believe is awful. Yet, they refused to tear up our Constitution and overthrow our democracy, and just doing that ended their political careers in the GOP. Think about that for a second, what that says about that organization. Bowers had more to say about it himself:

“The suite of candidates that we now have representing what used to be a principled party is just like, wow … It’s like being the first colonizer on Jupiter...They’ve invented a new way. It’s a party that doesn’t have any thought. It’s all emotional, it’s all revenge. It’s all anger. That’s all it is."

This week I also talked about Karl Rove's attacks on Trump, not because Rove cares about democracy, but because he fears it will lead to GOP losses in the midterms, as well as the guilty verdicts for the domestic terrorists--and members of the GOP base--who planned to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan and obtain, and set off, a weapon of mass destruction.

We see this insanity every day now, with those who believe elections were stolen, Judaism is a curse, demons can transfer sexually transmitted diseases and drinking your own urine can cure COVID. The Trump-supported challenger to Bowers believe the election was "snatched by the devil himself." I'm pretty sure this is what Bowers meant when he said it's like being "the first colonizer on Jupiter." The Republican Party has been taken over by a group of characters who better fit a "Men In Black" sequel than an election in a democracy. But it's not cute or funny, it's downright terrifying.

This is why I started The Takedown and one more time (I promise!) why I ask you to please subscribe. That platform is growing, as is this one. But we don't have FoxNews, Sinclair Media or Salem Radio. When a lifelong Republcian, who held one of the most prestigious positions in the party in Arizona, says of the political organization in which he has spent his entire life:

“The thought that if you don’t do what we like, then we will just get rid of you and march on and do it ourselves – that to me is fascism.”

People MUST know about it.

The more people who subscribe to the channel, the more Youtube promotes it, deciding it's worthy of seeing. That, and your sharing it with anyone you can and encouraging them to subscribe, is how we have a broader impact. We are in precarious times. We must rise to meet the challenge, as past generations have done. So I've decided, win or lose, I'm leaving it all out on the field. And I know you are much the same, or you wouldn't be here, and I am so thankful to you for that!

Thanks for all you do, my friends, and please have a good evening.

All my best,

Cliff
