Team,
Peter Welch has been a champion for working Vermonters throughout his career. And now that he’s the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Vermont, we’d like to take a moment to explain what’s at stake, and what he’ll be fighting for in the Senate.
Peter’s running for the U.S. Senate because we need All Hands On Deck to defend our Democratic majority and deliver for Vermont and our country. He’s in this race fighting to put families first: by lowering prescription drug prices, combating climate change, and making affordable child care a reality for all of us. But none of this will be possible if Mitch McConnell takes back the Senate—he’ll put progress out of reach. If we want to see action on our priorities, we have to elect Peter to the Senate.

For far too long, Mitch McConnell and the GOP have blocked or rolled back progress on our priorities, especially in the Senate. Everything—voting rights, Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, lowering prescription drug prices, reproductive justice, racial and economic justice, everything—gets filibustered by the Mitch McConnell Republicans in the Senate. They’re fighting for failure.
But Peter will fight for us. In an era of partisanship, Peter has worked across the aisle to create jobs, increase access to affordable education and health care, invest in energy efficiency, protect our environment, and care for our veterans. And it’s how he will lead if elected Vermont’s next senator.
That’s all on the line. Right now, with a Trump-aligned Republican as our opponent, this election offers a choice between Peter’s positive vision or one of extremism and division.
With the Senate split 50-50, it’s up to us to work together to ensure we elect Peter in Vermont.
Thanks so much,
Team Welch
