Choosing Florida’s U.S. Senate race for our first IE fund was a no-brainer
– Florida is the ultimate swing state, with a skyrocketing and diverse
population. It’s also one of our very best shots at flipping a red seat
blue in 2022, as Val takes on incumbent Republican Senator Marco Rubio,
whose once-rising star has dimmed dramatically over the past few years.

Now, I don’t want to bore you with a bunch of technical stuff, but I do
want to quickly explain what an IE fund is, and how it helps us do more
for our candidates.

First, you should understand that No Dem Left Behind is a “hybrid” PAC.
Most of the time, we function as a traditional PAC.  That means there are
strict limits on who can contribute to us, how much they’re allowed to
give, and how we’re allowed to spend the money we raise. But the hybrid
designation also allows us to maintain a separate IE fund – we’ve just
never had the resources to do it before now.

So, what is an IE fund, and what does it do? 

Put simply, it changes the rules. With an IE fund, there are no limits to
who can contribute, how much they can give, or how we’re allowed to spend
it, with one major catch: If we use it to try to get a candidate elected,
we can’t donate any IE fund money directly to that candidate or coordinate
with their campaign.

So, as much as we love Florida’s Val Demings and her team, we decided
we’re willing to give up talking with them for a few months if it means we
can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money to help make sure she wins
this thing.

We know it has been a while since pre-pandemic, but we’re ready to hit the
road again this summer.

Because the IE fund has no contribution limits, the only limiting factor
on the impact we can make is how much support we get from folks like
