I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who lent my team a hand last week – so many of you generously supported my campaign, and I’m feeling well-positioned for the tough election ahead.
Of course you know, friend, that passing and advancing legislation is a big piece of my job, but I also need to support both my colleagues and congressional hopefuls, alike. Democrats put people over politics – unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the current iteration of the Republican Party.
We know that there is so much on the line this year. That is why I am committed to supporting ONLY pro-choice, pro-abortion access candidates.
Congressional Republicans have made it clear that enacting a national abortion ban is a top priority should they gain the majority. Not only do we need to prevent them from gaining that majority, we also must elect abortion-access allies who will work both to codify Roe and to protect the privacy and healthcare decisions of women and girls nationwide.
So, if you agree that we need to elect only the leaders ready to protect women's constitutional rights this November, help me send this message. Instantly add your name here.
With fewer than 80 days until the election, I’ve been reflecting often on the teachings of both Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and St. Augustine – and I’m reminded that an unjust ruling, like an unjust law, is no ruling, no law at all.
With determination,
Madeleine
