Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I value the opportunity to talk with you about my work in Washington D.C. and in the First District of Kansas.

Please feel free to share this email with family and friends who may be interested. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please contact my office - my staff and I are here and ready to assist you.

Yours in service,
The Week Ahead
I'm excited to hit the road this week and visit some of the outstanding businesses, organizations, and leaders here in the Big First District. I will have the opportunity to attend the Ebert Ahluist Field Day, a tour of the Amber Wave plant in Phillipsburg, and the Big First Picnic in Logan. I am also looking forward to speaking with The Kansas Association of Farm Service Agency County Office Employees (KASCOE) about the Farm Bill this Friday morning.

Visiting and speaking with Kansans is one of the greatest parts of representing the Big First, and I am looking forward to hearing from leaders and members of local communities so that I can bring an even better Kansas perspective to Washington, D.C.

If you'd like to keep up to date with my district visits this week, and in the future, please follow my social media for daily updates:
If you are in need of assistance or would like to share a question or comment, please contact my office, or visit my website at: Mann.House.Gov.

EPA Announces New Restrictions on Atrazine
For nearly 60 years, atrazine has been a reliable and proven herbicide for effective and efficient sustainable farm practices. It is used to protect corn, sorghum, and a variety of other crops from damaging weeds. On June 30, 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released proposed revisions to the previous atrazine decision. The revisions included new labeling requirements and an unworkable list of mitigation measures that producers would be required to implement when using atrazine. I led 90 of my House colleagues on a letter to the EPA pushing back on the proposed revisions. This decision, which was based on invalid studies and questionable conclusions, contradicts previous scientific evidence and will have a widespread impact on farmers who rely on atrazine to produce their crops.

The letter is supported by the Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Grain Sorghum, Kansas Corn Growers, American Farm Bureau Federation, National Corn Growers' Association, and more.

My staff had the privilege of attending the seventh annual Kansas Ag Growth Summit last week at the Manhattan Conference Center in Manhattan, Kansas. The event brings together farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, and leaders in agriculture from across the state to discuss innovative efforts to keep Kansas agriculture growing and thriving.

Breakout sessions throughout the summit gave participants the chance to sit down and discuss many aspects of Kansas agriculture. Guests heard from keynote speaker Dr. Richard Linton, President of Kansas State University, and recognized Kansas Ag heroes who have gone above and beyond to serve their communities.

I love hearing from Kansas farmers, ranchers, and producers who are in the middle of it every day - working around the clock to feed, fuel, and clothe our nation. As the Representative for the Big First District, it is important to attend events like the Kansas Ag Growth Summit, and I am grateful for these opportunities.
Happening Across the Country
As students prepare to head back to the classroom, parents are headed to the store for their annual back-to-school shopping. Back-to-school shopping is already the second largest annual expense for families and sadly, this year parents will be facing much higher expenses for school supplies due to skyrocketing inflation. Inflation continues to rise under the Biden Administration and is costing the average Kansas household over $8,700 per year.
We need to get the inflation crisis under control. To do so, we must put an end to reckless federal spending, unleash American energy production, and remove onerous government regulations that are hamstringing the economy.
August is Antiterrorism Month
August is designated as antiterrorism month, designed to address the threat of terrorism and to encourage regular vigilance and communication to report potential threats. Since 9/11, more than 230 terrorist attacks have been prevented in the U.S. The U.S. Army encourages both soldiers and civilians, especially ones living on military bases, to act by the motto: If you see something, say something.

Thank you, to the brave military servicemembers and law enforcement officers who keep our nation safe.
Military Academy Nominations
As a member of Congress, it is my honor to offer service academy nominations for ten students in the Big First District who wish to pursue a career serving in our nation's military. My office is now accepting nominations for the 2022 class of Miltary Academy Nominations. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to the five U.S. service academies:
