With the price of gas on everyone’s mind these days, I was so proud to watch the Democrats in the House of Representatives pass the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act, a bill to keep big oil companies from price gouging at the pump.
Rep. Frank Pallone, Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said “Big Oil is keeping supply artificially low, which in turn keeps prices for consumers sky-high. When the market is broken like this, that's when Congress has to step in to protect American consumers." And that is what this commonsense legislation was designed to do: empower regulators to go after the price gougers and correct a problem that made life harder for most Americans.
True to form, Ann Wagner voted against the gas price-gouging law. She also voted against the Inflation Reduction Act , which will lower prescription drug costs, put money in the pockets of folks who make their homes more energy efficient, bring millions of dollars into our state for solar and wind energy, smarter and more efficient electric grids, and so much more.
