Join The Power Hour Team, the wind is in our sails for climate action!
Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT
Join us Mondays and Wednesdays 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT for Power Hour where we call, tweet, and email our legislators and fossil fuel enablers to push for specific climate bills and actions.
Wednesday, August 24th, we will urge our electeds to protect Local Law 97, the boldest urban climate law in the world. We cannot allow it to be gutted by so-called Renewable Energy Credits or REC's, which would let landlords of large buildings off the hook for simple energy-efficiency improvements to their buildings. Don't REC Local Law 97! We will also take action on Black Rock's backsliding on their own divestment targets.
Monday, August 29th, we will remount our fall push for Skip the Stuff bill (INT 0559) which would require restaurants and food delivery sites to have diners "opt-in" if you want plastic condiments and utensils delivered with your meal. We already made great progress getting nine new sponsors for the bill from three previous phone banks. Woo hoo!
And we will tell Governor Hochul to reject Interim New York Power Authority CEO Justin Driscoll, who is a GOP donor and anti-BPRA, to lead NYPA so we can Build Public Renewables call 877-235-6537. That's why we call it Power Hour, sign up here!

Listen to Climate Check's Newest Episode, "The Second Best Time to Plant a Tree"
According to Ana Levy-Lyons, the best time to plant a tree is 30 years ago. The second best time is now. Join us in listening to Climate Check's 9th episode, featuring Ana, the Senior Minister of First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn and author of "NO OTHER GODS.” She and host Eva Dean discuss Ana's path to divinity, the nuanced responsibility of parenthood in the era of the climate crisis, and the illusions technology has placed on our framings of place, waste, and haste. Ana calls on listeners to examine the role of our spirituality in the climate crisis, introduces us to the homo amandi, relays the importance of changing our spiritual culture from the inside, and suggests that the Sabbath might be one of our best tools for climate action. Take a rest and tune in.
Sunday in the Park Tabling!
Throughout the summer, members of 350Brooklyn’s City Action Committee have been hosting tabling at Grand Army Plaza, simply talking to others about ways to fight the climate crisis. During these tabling sessions we: engage citizens on topics such as emissions, renewable energy, and asthma awareness, then guide them towards concrete calls to action (i.e. signing petitions, emailing legislators, signing up to give testimony). We also listen to learn about the issues they themselves are passionate about. Don’t feel ready? That’s OK! We invite you to swing by, meet some of the City Action crew and learn about our campaigns - we will provide everything you need to participate, including backgrounder materials - Sign Up for Tabling Here!
WHEN: Sundays, 10am-2pm
WHERE: Grand Army Plaza Entrance to Prospect Park
WHO: For any questions contact Georgi at [email protected]

Take Action to Stop Fast-Tracking Pipelines!
Reports are circulating that Senator Manchin, in return for his vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, was promised a new bill that would fast track pipeline approvals. Written in consultation with the American Petroleum Institute, if passed, this law would allow energy companies to ride roughshod over environmental justice communities while perpetuating our profligate emissions of greenhouse gases. Here's what you can do. Call Senator Schumer and tell him "no dirty pipeline deal." 855-980-2321. Call your Congress Member and tell them you expect them to stand up for the climate and refuse to vote for any bill that fast tracks pipelines. 917-791-2257.
