I got my start in politics way back when I was in high school in South Carolina. I’d help register voters throughout my community so they could participate in our democracy, and I realized what a significant impact it had on folks in my hometown of Orangeburg and families across the country.

I’ve learned so much since then -- particularly during my Senate race against Lindsey Graham -- but there’s one thing that’s stuck with me from the get-go: When we work together, we can deliver real, lasting change.
