Friend, we have incredible momentum in the fight to electrify 100% of the new postal fleet:

Last year, Louis DeJoy’s Postal Service released a decision to replace 90% of its delivery fleet with polluting and gas-guzzling combustion mail trucks. But the decision relied on a biased, pro-fossil fuel, and unlawful environmental review.

So in April, we filed a lawsuit against Postmaster General Dejoy to challenge his awful decision.

Over the last year, supporters like you sent over 130,000 letters to the Postal Service. Your efforts pushed the USPS to increase the percent of new electric vehicles from 10% to 40%. And earlier this month, Congress allocated $3 billion to fund electrification of the USPS.

These are incredible steps forward, but we still have a court date set for September. We refuse to back down on our lawsuit until the Postal Service agrees to electrify its entire batch of new vehicles — and we’ll be working hard in DC to make sure this investment is used as Congress intended it.

Friend, if you can afford to make a donation today, please partner with us to support lawsuits like this one and help us hit our $178,000 August online fundraising goal.

Your donations allow us to fight for a better environment in every corner of the United States.

This lawsuit is a perfect example: Our victory would have environmental impacts on every street in America.

* If we succeed: We could pressure the agency to electrify its entire fleet, saving over 100 million gallons of fuel each year and improving air quality for millions of Americans who live in neighborhoods overburdened with tailpipe pollution.

* If we fail: Combustion mail trucks that get an abysmal 8.6 mpg (with the A/C on) will deliver more pollution to communities already overburdened by asthma and health disparities.

The stakes are high, but we have hope for victory. With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Congress called DeJoy’s bluff.

Postmaster General DeJoy’s unlawful decision is now the only thing stopping the USPS from moving to a 100% electric fleet.

The extraordinary actions of Earthjustice grassroots activists have already moved the needle from 10% to 40%. This lawsuit will work alongside their activism in pursuit of a 100% electric postal fleet.

But our work depends on your generous support. Please consider making a donation today to help us hit our $178,000 August online fundraising goal and win important environmental lawsuits.
