team – We took a few days of (much needed!) rest after the primary, but are back in campaign mode again! I’ve been out knocking doors, phone banking with volunteers, and digging into the primary election precinct analysis to target our work through November. ICYMI: The Secretary of State officially certified the primary results last week. Our results were strong — and it’s all because you. Your volunteer hours and the doors and on the phones, generous contributions, and warm-hearted support for our campaign helped us connect with neighbors and drive out votes. Our 51.52% lead gives me so much hope that the people of the 26th district will stand up for democracy, protect reproductive freedom, and reject corporate special interests this November. But only if we keep up the work. The reality is that this race was the closest State Senate race in Washington in the primary and we have to prepare accordingly. We can’t afford to become complacent and take the primary results as a victory. We not only have to keep up the good work that got us this far —we have to step it up to the next level. AND: we’re expecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in conservative PAC money to be spent for my opponent. As a sign of what is to come, the Washington Republican Party cut him a $50,000 check right after the primary from their special interest backers. So far, they have given his campaign $165,000. That’s what we’re up against this year. I’m not taking any corporate PAC money, and instead am relying on everyday neighbors — the actual people that I represent — to help fund my campaign. I hope I can count on you to stand with me. Thanks for everything you do. I’m so proud to have you on my team, and to work alongside you to build the brighter future we deserve. —Emily |
